National Assembly President Congratulates China on 72nd Anniversary

Phnom Penh: The President of the National Assembly, Heng Samrin, has sent a congratulatory message to Li Zhanshu, the Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress of the People's Republic of China, on the occasion of the 72nd founding anniversary of the country.

He wrote: “On behalf of the National Assembly of the Kingdom of Cambodia, I would like to convey my warmest and most profound congratulations to the Honorable Chairman and all Chinese people on this special and auspicious occasion marking the 72nd anniversary of the establishment of the People's Republic of China. Over the past 72 years, China has achieved unity, harmony and prosperity under the able and wise leadership of the Communist Party of China, notwithstanding having the world's largest population and ethnic diversity. On this joyful occasion, we would like to express our heartfelt appreciation and compliments to the Communist Party of China for its serious determination and sacrifices over the past century to overcome all difficulties and obstacles to achieve great development and prosperity in changing the history and destiny of the Chinese people.”

Heng Samrin continued, “the People's Republic of China is the first developing country to achieve ahead of schedule the sustainable development goal set by the United Nations of alleviating extreme poverty by 2030. In addition, China has made remarkable achievements in technology and science, which contribute to the process of maintaining peace, development and prosperity across the world. The National Assembly of the Kingdom of Cambodia warmly welcomes China's development path with peaceful coexistence and its initiatives to build a community of common destiny for humanity which has given rise to wise diplomacy and increased China's impact on international relations. China has promoted the principles of multilateralism and international cooperation to effectively combat the Covid-19 pandemic to achieve economic recovery and strengthen the regional cooperation.”

He concluded by saying, “Cambodia strongly upholds the One-China policy. I deeply appreciate the notion and remain committed to the continued strengthening of Cambodia-China relations and increased cooperation between our two parliaments. The National Assembly of the Kingdom of Cambodia shall enhance our Iron Partnership in friendship with common goals between our two countries to ensure cooperation for mutual benefits in various sectors.”

Heng Samrin also expressed his belief that the National People's Congress, the State and the People of China will achieve the centenary goal set by the Communist Party of China of building a “modern socialist country of strength, prosperity, democracy, civilized culture and harmony in 2049”.
